Unprecedented Times Indeed

Does anyone else feel like they are living inside of a Stephen King novel? Mostly empty streets, deserted businesses, picked over grocery stores — and no toilet paper — all the hallmarks of your favorite dystopian novel. But of course it is not a dystopia or apocalypse. This is a crisis we will overcome because our world, our nation and our region is resilient. . .



The Big Table Report is here!

The Big Table Greater Peoria final report was released in mid-February and will help guide our efforts in 2020 and beyond. A report on the Rural Matters events was also released. 

Turnout for the report press conference and breakout sessions that followed was impressive. The momentum and energy from October's event is still going strong.

Local Spotlight: Jtec Industries

What do Facebook, Caterpillar, Stanley Black and Decker and Volkswagen have in common? The answer lies in Central Illinois with the material handling equipment manufacturer: Jtec Industries. These big businesses are all loyal customers of the company, established in East Peoria over a decade ago.

Uncovering the Hidden Assumptions in Starting a Business

We launched the first of many “Uncovering the Hidden Assumptions in Your Business” workshops last month. It was well attended by business owners who were interested in learning more about how they can identify and manage the risk inherent in their business ventures.

GP Farm Forum: Growing a Supply Chain for Organic Agriculture

At the latest GP Farm Forum in February, organic producers and other agriculture stakeholders came together to discuss the opportunities and challenges of building a regional supply chain to support the increased organic production in the region.

SBA To Provide Up to $2 Million in Disaster Assistance Loans

The SBA will be providing Disaster Assistance Loans to small businesses impacted by Coronavirus (COVID-19).  These low-interest disaster recovery loans will be available to small businesses that have been severely impacted. Stay tuned for more updates.
