AB5 Extended

Trucking companies using owner-operators in California can breathe a sigh of relief for now, as a judge has extended a temporary restraining order keeping officials from enforcing the onerous terms of its AB5 independent contractor law against motor carriers.

A Jan. 13 hearing on the California Trucking Association’s motion for a preliminary injunction in its legal case against the state’s controversial Assembly Bill 5 was “spirited,” according to one attendee.

U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez heard arguments under advisement but did not issue a decision. He has extended the temporary restraining order that was put in place Dec. 31, and it will be in effect until his ruling on the preliminary injunction. This could take days or a couple of weeks, according to a California Trucking Associations spokesperson.

Until a decision is delivered, the California Trucking Association has said it is not commenting on the case.

TIS 2019 Banquet
This is How We Roll!

2019 was a year of epic proportions for The Insurance Store, so it was only fitting that we celebrated at Epic Rollertainment.  Our staff members enjoyed a night of roller skating to 80’s classics, playing arcade games, and rocking out to a private performance by our very own Martin Cueto.  And what’s an 80’s throwback night without some truly stellar costumes?  TIS staff members delivered like they always do with enthusiasm, joy, and lots of spunk.  From laser lights to taffeta, to bright colors and cool hairdos, the team did not disappoint.  We are looking forward to a strong start to the new decade; 2020 here we come!

Charities of the Quarter

As we look forward to a new and prosperous yearThe Insurance Store embraces the positivity that comes from serving in our community. We feel blessed to be able to provide a helping hand to those in our community who need our love and support. The blessings we have received by doing this have changed our view of what gives us meaning and how we can be better humans. Each year, TIS volunteers monthly in various locations around our community that have been recommended by our staff and the charities that inspire them. We focus our financial efforts even more by choosing four charities to support in greater depth each quarter. For 2020, we have chosen The Magic Yarn Project, Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Urban Angels of San Diego, and Primary Children’s Hospital of Salt Lake City.

We want you to know that you are a part of doing this greater good as well; your efforts are supporting the community around us. With every new referral you send in, we donate $10 to the charity we are sponsoring that quarterIn some cases, we are even able to go directly to this charity and volunteer our services for the day as a company. Our lives are blessed, and our hearts are changed when we get to be a part of these moments, so thank you for making this possible.

In addition to these four organizations that we recognize quarterlywe will also be serving with Vineyard Place, Cultivating Inclusion, Assistance League, EQUU8, and Murrieta Methodist Food Pantry on a monthly basis.

Behind The Scenes

Anni Hallmark
Personal Lines Manager

When it comes to a life full of adventure, one of our team members could give Indiana Jones a run for his money and a policy to cover all of his losses.  From learning how to climb a coconut tree in Guam to dancing with Don Ho in Hawaii, she brings a strong independence, and a spark of life and mischief to The Insurance Store that we just love.  We would like to introduce you to Anni Hallmark.

Originally from Los Angeles, Anni grew up in Guam with her mother’s family.  Anni loved island life, and it allowed her a lot of independence.  At the age of 7, Anni jumped into her first and most favorite adventure in Guam.  Her grandmother’s carabao, Molly, had escaped the family property and Anni went after it with her uncle.

Slow It Down
Slow Cooker Beef Stew

Great insurance goes hand in hand with a great healthy slow-cooked meal. In looking through some recipes, our team found a beefy meal that can take you the extra mile or two.

The main ingredients for this recipe includes two pounds of bottom round well-trimmed beef. Healthy twists include olive oil, bay leaves, carrots, and just a few more goodies.

From Testimonials to Social Tags, We Love the Stories You Share

Move-It LLC has worked with The Insurance Store since day one. In the beginning stages of establishing our company we knew Insurance was going to be a huge factor. Working with them in all aspects of our company gives us the peace of mind that we are covered in any situation. Mark Wright has specifically been are go to guy. I can contact him with any questions and know he’ll get me all the info that I need. I can not imagine how a business would survive without a dedicated insurance team behind them.
