Articles, tools, and books for you and your team

Welcome to my newsletter, in which I curate resources including articles, reports, books, and more for those interested in people development.

Living in this time of multiple pandemics - COVID-19, racial tensions, and political unrest, the impact is being felt deeply and personally by many. Every individual meets the challenge of change differently; with different experiences of intensity and different perspectives of how to be successful through the change. To come through these unprecedented times and arrive at the other side will require resilience.

Resilience is defined by not allowing ourselves to be stuck in the past or present, and instead adopting an optimistic perspective (a growth mindset), cultivating a positive attitude, flexibility, the ability to regulate one’s emotions, and a willingness to collaborate to overcome obstacles.

Resilience also involves the ability to empathize with others instead of taking a blaming stance and the ability to see failure as a form of helpful feedback. When we summon these internal resources allowing us to adapt to the changing circumstances, we’ll demonstrate our agility through our ability to regroup as we strive to take steps forward for our health and well-being.

Warmest wishes of the Season. See you in 2021.

Book of the Month

“Whatever we face, we have a choice: Will we be blocked by obstacles, or will we advance through and over them?”

The Obstacle is the Way:
The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph

In this international bestseller, Ryan Holiday highlights how we are constantly being tested in life. When we’re faced with adversity, there is the situation (perceived obstacle), the story we create, and the meaning we give to the circumstance. Holiday outlines the steps we need to take in order to turn our greatest challenges into our biggest triumphs. Master our perceptions by managing emotions to get closer to the truth of the matter, take courageous action in the direction of our goals, and exercise determined will through humility, flexibility, and resilience, only then will we be able to use obstacles as fuel and leverage for growth.

“The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.” Marcus Aurelius
