Stakeholder Newsletter

June 7-14 2023

Hello Tourism Community,

We are unfortunately experiencing a hazy glow across Brockville due to the forest fires across the region. This is not the “Welcome to Summer” we had hoped for, and I know we are all truly wishing for a speedy recovery.

The air quality index in Brockville this morning is a 9 out of 10, meaning we are at a high health risk. I have attached some links to help you gauge your outdoor activities and help manage your workforce. This will certainly affect everyone, but those businesses with staff and patrons at outdoor dining facilities and with outdoor activities like boat cruises, hiking, and biking may need to adjust. Unfortunately, this is also much of what makes Brockville appealing.

While I know nobody wants to go back to masks again, the health department is recommending N95 masks to reduce exposure when working outside. Important links that you can follow to find more information are below.

On a happier note, Monday, July 5, we kicked off Pride Week in Brockville with a schedule of exciting events taking place daily. Scroll down further in this email for more details.

Thanks and have a great day!

Fire Ban in Place as of June 5, 2023

We are unfortunately experiencing wildfires across the country and close to home in Eastern Ontario. You will have noticed the smokey haze over Brockville. To keep our communities as safe as possible, the City of Brockville has put a fire ban in place. We will announce when it is lifted.
