Live Zoom Webinar Feb. 13

The WDDS and the Genesee District Dental Society are hosting a Live Webinar! Dr. James Thomas, (JT) will present "Babies - What's All the Fuss About?". This online live presentation will begin at 7pm.

This presentation explores various aspects of infant feeding, including breastfeeding, bottle feeding, oral dysfunction in newborns, and the impact of oral tethers such as lip, tongue, and buccal restrictions. However, it goes beyond a mere discussion of tongue ties. It presents a transformative narrative of proactively addressing uncoordinated sucking patterns in babies to prevent a lifetime of healthcare issues. Dr. Thomas will show how his team leveraged technology and embraced innovative approaches to scale a visionary message to educate the uneducated and to empower families with the knowledge and tools to support their child's optimal growth and development.

Attending this presentation will give you invaluable insights into the vital significance of coordinated sucking patterns in newborns and infants. Dr. Thomas will use a story to help you visualize and "see" why a baby's dysfunctional suck will inevitably lead to future health issues. This session will challenge traditional beliefs, expand your understanding, and equip you with actionable strategies to make a lasting difference in the lives of the little ones you see personally and professionally. Together, we can revolutionize the approach to infant healthcare and preventive measures, setting a new standard of excellence.

Please make sure to register by clicking the button below to secure your spot since space is limited. We look forward to your presence and active participation in this transformative event. Again, this will be interactive and very visual. Feel free to invite colleagues and professionals who share our commitment to improving the lives of our youngest patients. This Zoom webinar is at no cost to WDDS and Genesee members. Out-of-district member dentists are $10 and team members will be charged $15.

WDDS Event No-Shows Are Increasing

We understand that no-shows to your office are both disappointing and frustrating. Not only are you concerned about your patient’s well-being, but you are also worried about lost revenue. We feel the same way about all of you when you register for a WDDS meeting and don’t show up. We worry that something occurred en route to the WDDS meeting and are concerned about the WDDS’s bottom line – your dues dollars.

October’s meeting had 11 no-shows and 5 cancellations on the day of the meeting. November’s meeting had 16 no-shows and 4 cancellations due to illness or emergency on the day of. No-shows to WDDS meetings are on the rise. In numbers, this equates to a loss of $1,440-$1,620 for these meetings because we still must pay for your meal even if you do not attend. We could give Weber’s a lower count and assume we may have a 20% no-show, but that would also mean a smaller, cramped room, and meal choices, such as vegetarian options, would be compromised.

The $175 Component Dues no longer cover the four evening dinner meetings, speaker fees, Night Out Events, all-day September CE, New Dentist events, and the labor of our administrative staff. With rising post-Covid expenses everywhere, your volunteer WDDS executive board has been incredibly frugal in how your dues dollars are being allocated and is working diligently to make your money sustainable. Please respect their combined volunteer efforts in making your local WDDS experience worthwhile to you.

We understand that life can be unpredictable, and plans may change at the last minute. We appreciate you letting us know you will not be in attendance. Perhaps you have a well-meaning dental team member who regularly registers you for these courses without your knowledge. If so, kindly request that they ask you first.
