Teekay Stories: Counting Down our Favorite Moments of 2018

Another year has flown by! As we do every year, we like to pause and reflect on some of the most memorable moments we had.

While it’s not always easy, we know our work matters. We share a passion for success and high performance, supported by a strong belief that we can achieve more, TOGETHER.

We would like to take a moment to thank our employees, customers, investors and partners for all your hard work, support and contributions in 2018. We look back on the year with a reminder of how we made it through, as a team, with Teekay Spirit!

Here are our top 10 moments of the past year.

We Celebrated Safety. Safety Always Comes First.

It takes commitment and dedication 24/7/365 to maintain a strong safety culture. A culture that ensures everyone goes home safely to their families. Our Lost Time Injury (LTI) Free achievements are a direct result of what it means to live and breathe safety – every single day.

We Delivered On Our Newbuild Program.

2018 was a busy shipbuilding year at Teekay! Our teams have worked day in and day out to ensure we deliver on our newbuild program and their efforts paid off. Last year, we delivered a total of nine LNG carriers.

We Set New Environmental Standards With E-shuttle.

Our new generation of “E-Shuttles” use their own emissions as fuel. Once on the water, they will be the most environmentally friendly shuttle tankers ever built.

We Achieved Operational Milestones.

Operational life is all about performing to a high standard, every day. It is often underappreciated because it does not make the headlines. But at Teekay, we understand that the day-to-day hard work and dedication of 8000 colleagues around the world is what makes the Teekay brand stand out.

We Abided by the Code of the Sea

All Teekay seafarers abide by the code of the sea: to help those in need. Whether it was the gannett trapped in a discarded fishing net or the surfer caught in a storm swell, our crews were there to answer the call – and in-depth and consistent training and drills ensured that they were well-prepared to respond.

We Ventured into the Ice

2018 marked a historic moment for Teekay – and for arctic exploration. Eduard Toll, our very first Icebreaker LNG Carrier made history as it underwent the latest seasonal independent passage by a merchant ship on the Northern Sea Route. Nine months later, Rudolph Samoylovich joined Eduard Toll as the second of six Arc-7 LNG carriers that Teekay will provide to the Yamal LNG project by 2020.

We got to Know a Few of Our Global Offices.

Across the globe, we have 25 offices in 14 countries. Last year, we took the opportunity to get to know a few of our locations.

We Visited Our East Coast Canada Operations.

Managed out of our St. John’s office, the three Heritage Class newbuilding shuttle tankers provide crude transportation services to the Hibernia, Terra Nova, White Rose and Hebron oil fields. This is the Teekay Offshore East Coast Canada project – explained.

We Celebrated Our 45th Anniversary.

Last year we celebrated 45 years of bringing energy to the world. Teekay has come a long way since our founder Torben Karlshoej established the company in New York. We are now more than 8000 employees strong, our fleet is much larger and more diverse, and our reach stretches around the globe.

And Finally, We Gazed out into the Sunset.

Our seafarers have a front row seat to the best views around the globe. And we love every opportunity to look out at the horizon – together.
