Football and Thanksgiving go together like turkey and gravy. Several RMI employees listed watching or playing football as part of their Thanksgiving traditions.
Nothing, however, can top the glory days of our own Rich Leary and Alan Yu battling it out in the annual Turkey Bowl at Wappinger's Jr. High School the day after Thanksgiving. Rich reminisced, "Before we got old, Al and I participated for years. All out tackle. I believe Al still has the football trophy in his office for the 'Butkus' award (i.e.biggest hit) -- it was memorable."
Alan confirmed that said trophy is indeed still proudly displayed in his office. For Alan, the tradition lives on. "After we got too old to play tackle (actually I would still play if asked)," said Alan, " I started playing another Turkey Bowl game with my college friends on Long Island. As we got older, it was hard to get enough guys to play so now (yes, we still play), the high school and college age sons are in the game." Passing the torch to the next generation.
