Harriet Tubman, the former slave turned abolitionist, became one of the most famous women in American history. A lesser-known, but fascinating, story is her tie to Georgetown County, SC, through her great-nephew, James Bowley. This summer, a nine-foot sculpture of Tubman will be on public display at the Joseph H. Rainey Park in historic Georgetown beginning Aug. 1 before being transported to Brookgreen Gardens on Oct. 31, where it will be displayed until the end of the year. Take advantage of this limited opportunity for a glimpse at one of America’s greatest heroines.
