It's Time To Partee!

The 18th annual Gulliver Golf Classic is just around the corner! On Monday, February 3, alumni, current coaches, faculty and friends will take over Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club for a fun-filled day on the green. Alumni Spotlight:
Donovan Varner ’08, Wide Receivers Coach, University of Rhode Island

We recently caught up with Donovan Varner ’08 after the Legacy Bowl Alumni Flag Football Game. He remembers his Gulliver days like it was yesterday! With many impactful takeaways from his coaches, teachers and teammates, Varner gained an understanding of the value of hard work and discipline, the power of teamwork, and the importance of patience and commitment. In our first alumni spotlight, he reflects on his time at Gulliver and the impact it has had on his career. Upper School Students Win App Challenge For Fourth Straight Year



U.S. Rep. Donna Shalala (FL-27) has announced Jake Charron ‘21, Joshua Delgado ‘21, Kamal Kay-Ramos ‘21, and Jordan Schmidt ‘21 as winners of the 2019 Congressional App Challenge for her Congressional district. The group's winning app, AED Locator, uses a person's geolocation to find the nearest automated external defibrillator in more than 10,000 locations in Miami-Dade County. Upper School Students Attend Diversity Leadership Conference

Last month, Upper School students and faculty attended the NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) and the People of Color Conference (NAISPoCC) in Seattle. SDLC is a multiracial, multicultural gathering of student leaders from across the U.S. and abroad. In addition to large group sessions, "family groups" and "home groups" allowed for dialogue and sharing in smaller units. The conferences focused on self-reflecting, forming allies, and building community. Not only did attendees gain a better sense of community, equity and inclusion, they developed cross-cultural communication skills and learned the foundations of allyship and networking principles. Photo by Sarah Compel, Miller Drive Campus Guidance and College Counselor.
