Panel Experience Kicks Off New C.O.R.E. Program

To kick off our new Community Outreach Raider Experience (C.O.R.E.) program, students in grades 9-10 had the opportunity to hear from a group of alumni and parents who value and are heavily involved in community engagement efforts in South Florida and beyond. Panelists discussed their individual leadership journeys and how each of them stepped up to take responsibility in their communities. They also stressed to students to take advantage of all the resources available to them, as well as the importance of becoming informed, engaged, and active citizens. The C.O.R.E. Program is designed to allow students to make a connection between their school work, and their experiences outside of school. The program will enable students across all divisions to see the relevance of what they learn in school as a means to better understand the local, national and global communities around them, and to participate in making positive differences. Student-Athletes Reconnecting
at Alumni Games

Thank you to all who participated in the recent alumni games. As these events grow every year, they have quickly become an essential part of the Gulliver student-athlete experience! We brought 2019 to a close with the annual alumni soccer and lacrosse games, as well as the Legacy Bowl flag football tournament. Alumni across generations and their families joined in reconnecting with fellow teammates, meeting new faces including the current student-athletes, and reminiscing over fond Gulliver memories. The continued support, commitment and participation from our alumni continue to ensure success for future Raiders! Click the button to view the photos!

Alumni Spotlight:
Chloe Berkowitz ‘11

Young alum Chloe Berkowitz ‘11 is the President and founder of Berkowitz Contemporary Foundation. The Foundation is committed to bringing world-class artworks to South Florida, including James Turrell's Aten Reign conceptual light installation, and Richard Serra's Passage of Time. Just north of Downtown Miami, they recently broke ground for a permanent home for the Foundation’s collection, which will open in 2023, creating a free-to-the-public space where visitors could choose their own art experience. Berkowitz Contemporary Foundation also supports the National YoungArts Foundation and Miami's New World Symphony, America's only full-time orchestral academy preparing musicians for careers in symphony orchestras and ensembles. Along with heading her Foundation, Berkowitz is an art historian, a collector of contemporary art and a former trustee of Pérez Art Museum Miami.

Primary & Lower School
Reading Workshop

In Sr.K through third grade, we have adopted the Reading Workshop from Columbia University’s Teachers College Reading and Writing Project. The workshop’s mission is to help children become avid and skilled readers, and it emphasizes frequent reading from books students select themselves based on their interests. This research-based approach helps children learn the skills and habits that all readers need to navigate and comprehend texts and to find joy in the process of reading. Every child sees themselves as a reader and a part of the growing Gulliver community of thinkers and learners!
