Handwriting Without Tears
Through Handwriting Without Tears (HWT), a researched-based curriculum taught in Primary and Lower School, students are learning how to master handwriting as an automatic and comfortable skill while simultaneously working on their fine motor and early literacy skills. At the Primary level, teachers use hands-on, multi-sensory manipulatives such as Play-Doh, wooden manipulatives, and chalk, to teach students proper grip to form letters and numbers. By playing, singing, and building letters, students develop the important skills they need to print words and write sentences. In the Lower School years, multisensory activities that appeal to all learning styles continue to be used as students become more proficient in printing and learning cursive.
