SCHOOL NEWS AND UPDATES

Meet The Raider Voice Staff
The Raider Voice newspaper is a multimedia publication that offers students an opportunity to produce stories about issues that matter to them. In short, it is a student's voice on campus. As members of the newspaper staff, students experience what it’s like to be a journalist covering both school and community events, as well as writing editorials and commentary. Students also manage The Raider Voice companion social media sites as well as produce podcasts and newsreels for online publication. Click on the button to meet this year's staff!

Faculty Spotlight: Mrs. Verdugo
Each week through our Faculty Spotlight series, we invite our community members to get to know Gulliver Prep teachers across every division. Last week, we introduced Middle School’s Mr. Cunningham, and this week, our Faculty Spotlight features Mrs. Alexandra Verdugo, Primary School Faculty. Click on the button to learn about Mrs. Verdugo's goals for the school year, her favorite thing about Gulliver, her go-to Starbucks order, and more.

Athletics Update: Fall Sports
Fall sports have been underway at the Upper School for a few weeks and the Raiders are back to their winning ways. Last Friday, the varsity football team kicked off its home slate with a 78-0 route of Somerset-Homestead. Through two games, the Raiders have outscored their opponents 120-7. Our bowling, cross country, golf, volleyball, swimming, and sailing teams are also enjoying successful seasons. Middle School athletic teams began official practices this week and competition is set to begin the week of October 26. Season 1 Middle School sports include cheer, golf, soccer, swimming, sailing, and football (training only). To learn more about Gulliver Prep Athletics, click on the button.

JK Takes a Trip Around the World
Students in JK are taking a trip around the world using Google Earth. As part of their building study, Ms. Chelsea Wicker’s class has been exploring important landmarks and creating buildings of their own. The study is part of the Creative Curriculum, a comprehensive curriculum that features exploration and discovery as a way of learning.

Parents' Association Coffee Chats
Although our Parents’ Association activities look a bit different this year, we still want to stay connected and have some fun! Since we are not able to host our traditional grade-level breakfasts, in-person coffee chats, and other get-togethers, we have organized virtual grade-level coffee chats hosted by your Parents’ Association Chairs, Vice Chairs, grade liaisons, and ambassadors. Dates and times vary for each class and/or grade level. Capacity is limited so be sure to reserve your spot by clicking on the button!

A Gift for the Class of 2021
Calling all seniors! The Parents' Association has a special gift for you - a Class of 2021 mask, lanyard, and carrying bag. Be sure to stop by the Upper School Activities Office to pick up your gift this week.

Flu Season
We strongly encourage every Gulliver student to get vaccinated for the flu this year. The flu vaccine is more important than ever due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The flu is a serious illness that can be easily spread, and it is recommended that everyone six months and older get a flu shot every year unless told otherwise by a doctor. Through flu shot clinics provided on campus, faculty and staff members have been doing their part to get vaccinated and keep our community safe.
