May 5th, 10 :0 0 a.m. Virtual FAM trip. The Visitor Services FAM trip, hosted by the Wyoming Office of Tourism, is a great resource for all frontline staff at welcome and information centers, hotels, restaurants and attractions to gain a better understanding of the many destinations that visitors to Wyoming are either traveling to or through. By having a better understanding of the destinations, staff are better equipped to answer questions, provide navigation assistance and even point out off-the-beaten path places and hidden gems, which all enhance the visitor's Wyoming experience. While this year WOT was unable to provide an in-person experience, Visitor Services would like to invite everyone to attend a Virtual FAM highlighting the Northeast corner of Wyoming. This virtual FAM trip not only serves as great training for front-line staff, but also as a great opportunity to experience another way to promote your destination or region. To register, please follow the link below. If you have any questions about the virtual FAM, please contact Becky Ward, Visitor Services Supervisor, Southeast Wyoming Welcome Center at becky.ward@wyo.gov or Jeanett Wolff, Welcome Center Supervisor, Northeast Wyoming Welcome Center, jeanett.wolff@wyo.gov.
Monthly Webinar Series – May 12: International Seminar focused on Wyoming and the Great American West
In continuing with the monthly webinar series, the Wyoming Office of Tourism is changing the approach for May’s webinar slightly. Normally the topic would be announced during the Industry Call at the beginning of May, but to maximize the messaging, the Wyoming Office of Tourism is partnering with the Great American West States of ID, MT, ND, and SD as well as Rocky Mountain International to bring you a full international update. While the international markets have taken some major hits over the past twelve months, it is still a valuable asset that will rebound quickly.
Please join the Wyoming Office of Tourism, Rocky Mountain International and the additional Great American West states for a supplier seminar on May 12, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. to learn more about the international travel recovery process.
The seminar will focus on further education about the international tourism industry, bringing in key players within the industry to speak and present on everyone’s part in the recovery process through collaborative effort. This supplier opportunity will be hosted virtually and is completely free to any supplier through the Great American West partnership.
If you have questions about this seminar or the overall international marketing efforts, please contact James Scoon, the Director of Global Partnerships.

MONTHLY
Earned Media Coverage
Media & Press Summary: March 2021 Please note the ‘Top Media Placements’ and ‘Earned Media’ include coverage that is a direct result of the Wyoming Office of Tourism’s efforts, while “Wyoming in the News” is coverage that cannot be directly tracked back to the PR program.
Top Media Placements Wyoming was highlighted in several priority outlets in March. Celebrating Women’s History Month, Forbes highlighted the Wyoming Women’s Suffrage Pathway in a roundup covering U.S. women’s history trails. Stemming from a photoshoot WOT helped support for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, videos of the SI models exploring Wyoming were produced. In the recently released videos, the SI models are shown hiking Vedauwoo with Hike Like a Woman founder Rebecca Walsh and Medicine Bow National Forest.
Lastly, Costco Connections featured Deerwood Ranch Wild Horse EcoSanctuary and Reader’s Digest included Cheyenne in a roundup of the best “Spring Break Getaways That Don’t Require Air Travel,” highlighting several attractions from Terry Bison Ranch, Curt Gowdy State Park and the recently renovated State Capitol Building to Quebec 01 Missile Alert Facility – the roundup was also syndicated to MSN.
WOT's PR & Media team worked with Salt Lake Magazine to highlighted Wyoming’s perfect atmosphere for stargazing and our four road trip routes as the perfect getaway for Utahns. The routes bring attention to all four corners of the state and their unique journey to the national parks. Salt Lake Magazine drew attention to our historical sites and monuments along with our small-town charms, giving readers a wide view of Wyoming’s potential as a road trip state.
The final piece was included as an 8-page spread in the March print issue and the online piece went live April 16.
Casper to host the Native American Relay Races in Casper, sponsored by the Wind River Hotel & Casino and Northern Arapaho Tribe.
The Championship of Champions Indian Relay races will return to Casper September 24-26, 2021. The collaboration with the Horse Nations Indian Relay Council brings the highly competitive, traditional Native American sport back to the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds.
Riders do three laps around a half-mile track, switching horses each lap and riding bareback. The horsemanship skills, coordination, speed and sportsmanship of the Warriors are tested as 12-16 horses can be on the track at any given time.
Opening ceremonies will include Native American dancers, drummers, color guard, and spiritual leaders from the Northern Arapaho Tribe. The three-day event will also include women’s relay, chief race, warrior race, maiden race, and back for 2021, the youth relay.
