Fernweh Festival, Latin American Film Festival & Cultural autumn
Dear {"ANONYMIZED":"2022-09-10"},
The world is coming to Bern this fall! With the Fernweh Festival, Latin American Film Festival and Kulturherbst (cultural autumn), you can easily satisfy your every longing for faraway places and cultural inspiration in our beautiful federal city.
In reality, there is always a global feel to the place thanks to the embassies and multilateral organisations located in Bern. In order to serve this international community, the city and canton of Bern, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, and Bern Welcome, all came together and officially launched the International Bern Welcome Desk one year ago. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the enriching collaboration we have enjoyed, and I hope to meet you at one or another event soon.
If someone from your organisation has just moved to Bern: We will be holding a Welcome Event for the international community on 19 October and all new arrivals are warmly invited. Please spread the word!
Sincerely,
Rebekka Gex-Fabry
Head of International Bern Welcome Desk
Fernweh Festival
Discover different cultures and indulge your senses with tantalising tastes, vibrant colours and new impressions. Wanderlust (Fernweh) has taken hold throughout Bern, and numerous embassies are participating in the festival’s programme with a host of different activities.
A selected film from a Latin American country will be shown at Cine ABC Breitenrein at 6:00 pm every Tuesday and Thursday from 5 October to 23 November. All screenings are free and open to the public.
Bern’s Kulturherbst (cultural autumn) is also a busy place. A variety of international, national and local highlights from the city and region await you, as well as attractive offers for short stays.
When the French First Counsellor is not busy delivering a message from the Parisian authorities to his Swiss colleagues, he finds time to marvel at the turquoise waters of Lake Thun or watch the activities that take place at Parliament Square. Speaking of Confederation, if Philippe Cerf were ever elected to the Swiss Parliament, he would very likely campaign for more flexible opening hours.
An excursion to the beautiful Emmental valley is being organised for the diplomatic corps in September. After a hike, the group will visit the world-famous show dairy. You can also discover the Bern region on an autumn hike!
