Focus on the Greening Embassies Network and Tunisian Minister Rim El Memmi

Hello {"ANONYMIZED":"2022-09-10"},

“People sometimes think there is nothing to improve anymore, but there is always plenty that can be done.” This statement was made by the Embassy of Costa Rica, which has been part of the Greening Embassies Network since last year. I wanted to learn more about the commitment of the network, and this quest resulted in not only enriching but also sustainable exchanges – in the truest sense of the word.

I also want to introduce you to Minister Rim El Memmi. Thanks to her, I now know what connection the famous Bern painter Paul Klee had to her native Tunisia and that the current retrospective by Gabriele Münter at the Zentrum Paul Klee documents that artist's travels to Tunisia.

Sincerely,

The Greening Embassies Network’s engagement

The network is doing an impressive job of reducing its ecological footprint even further. You can read more here about what measures the Embassy of Sweden has implemented and how Costa Rica is raising awareness about sustainability issues among its own citizens.

Getting to know the international community

Tunisian Minister Rim El Memmi describes the Bernese lifestyle as having a “coolattitude". The 2019 Swiss women's strike left her anything but “cool”, however, and with the statement “colour has taken possession of me”, she is not only referring to Paul Klee, but also to the ever-changing colour of the Aare river, which fascinates her greatly.
