Regional Dialogue on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) for Africa

Session 1: ICLEI Africa will facilitate a session on cities and local action in the implementation of the NDCs.

Smart City innovation: Thematic Block Technology | Cities and Local Action

During this event, ICLEI Africa will share cutting edge practices related to collaboration between diverse stakeholders operating at subnational and national levels, and within different sectors. Good practice case studies relating to researcher and local government engagements will be shared. Furthermore, a session on mobility will showcase some of the innovative technologies that are improving informal transport in Africa, and introduce the African TUMI network.

Towards an agreement between States and local authorities for the territorialisation of the NDCs: Policy 2 | Cities and Local Action

ICLEI Africa will share lessons learnt when facilitating multi-level governance activities, with a special focus on the Cities and Regions Talanoa Dialogues that ICLEI conducted during 2018.

Financing Cities and Local Action for NDC Implementation: Finance 3 | Cities and Local Action

ICLEI Africa will present their climate finance activities such as the Transformative Action Program (TAP), and the Hon. Mayor Manual de Araujo, Quelimane, Mozambique will speak about the challenges of financing non-motorised transport.
