What happened?
On October 9th, Sunnie Dawn Baker and Daniel Castaneda visited Roff High School to provide information about the Ada Jobs Foundation and the Conduit Initiative over lunch. They were joined by high school faculty and administration as Baker and Castaneda gave short presentations and then had an open discussion with the educators.
Baker informed the teachers about the efforts of the Conduit Initiative to help create scalable tech startups in rural Southern Oklahoma, including discussing the content she creates and how it could be used in the classroom.
Castaneda shared information about the results of technology employer visits and upcoming digital skilling programs, inviting the educators to participate in upcoming focus groups with the Ada Jobs Foundation this month, where they can provide much needed feedback to help shape future efforts to create more technology-focused students and talent in the Ada region.
Why is it important?
Outreach efforts like this are important because educators are an important part of the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem. Educators know their community and they know their students. By fostering these connections and relationships, the Ada Jobs Foundation is making sure that community voices are heard and included in the discussion. This also allows further conversations about how the Ada Jobs Foundation can be of service to local schools.
